Addiction doesn’t ask permission. It seduces with velvet lies, then tightens with iron fists. It brands you, breaks you, and tells you that freedom is impossible. I’ve seen its altars. The glowing screen at midnight. The bottle that promises escape but delivers chains. The hunger that never satisfies. Addiction doesn’t care what it uses it only cares that you kneel. But the Word tears through: “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36) Addiction crowns hunger, but Christ is the Bread of Life. It enthrones thirst, but Christ is the Living Water. It sells the soul, but He bought it with blood. So I spit out the lies. I break the idols. Because freedom isn’t a dream it’s a Person, and He is here. When addiction chains, Jesus frees.
Reflection Question: What chains are you pretending are too strong, when Christ already shattered them at the cross?
Velvet lies seduce.
Chains rattle but shatter fast.
Freedom wears His face.
