Comfort can be the most dangerous cage. It does not clang or lock, it whispers, stay. But Jesus did not call anyone to stay comfortable. He called them to follow, which almost always means movement, surrender, and discomfort.
Comfort numbs calling. It lulls you into spiritual sleep while convincing you that you are safe. Peace is not found in predictability. It is found in presence.
Sometimes God shakes the ground not to punish you, but to wake you. The cost of comfort is growth you will never see, faith you will never test, and purpose you will never live.
“Woe to those who are at ease in Zion.” (Amos 6:1)
Reflection Question: What has comfort kept you from becoming?
Ease dulls holy fire,
God stirs hearts that dare to move,
Peace walks through the storm.
