The Gift of the Thorn

Pain is not always punishment. Sometimes it is protection wrapped in discomfort. Paul called his thorn a messenger of Satan, yet God used it to keep him humble. The ache that will not move might be the very thing preserving you from pride, from ruin, from self reliance.

Grace is not proven when the thorn is removed, but when you still trust God with it buried deep. He did not promise comfort. He promised sufficiency.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Reflection Question: What if the thing you have begged God to take away is the very thing He is using to keep you close?

Pain guards fragile hearts,
Grace grows best in broken soil.
Weakness wears His crown.
