Fear doesn’t wait in the shadows, it stalks you in broad daylight. It knows your weak spots, whispers worst-case scenarios, and sharpens them into weapons. I’ve felt its claws. Heart racing for no reason. Sleep broken by threats that never came. Fear is a hunter, and it never tires.
But the Word raises a shield: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” (Psalm 23:4)
Fear hunts, but it cannot touch the one walking beside the Shepherd. Its claws dull in His presence. Its shadow shrinks when His light breaks in. The hunter becomes the hunted when perfect love drives it out.
So I lift my eyes, not to the threats around me, but to the One who goes before me. Fear does not rule my steps. God does.
Reflection Question: What shadows are you letting stalk you that vanish in the presence of the Shepherd?
Fear sharpens its claws.
But love drives the hunter out.
The sheep walk secure.
