When Hearts Turn to Ice

The world feels colder. Not in weather, in spirit. Outrage trends. Mercy gets laughed at. Violence is entertainment. Jesus warned us about this chill: hearts would grow cold when lawlessness multiplies.

“Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 24:12-13)

It is not that we forgot how to care. It is that caring now feels costly. News cycles reward anger. Games glorify domination. Movies sell revenge as justice. The more we consume it, the more numb we become. Cold hearts do not bend. They crack.

So how do we keep our love from freezing

Stay close to the fire.

Feed your soul with Scripture, not constant outrage. Pray before you post. Choose forgiveness when payback feels right. Seek truth when rumors are easier. Practice small acts of mercy until compassion becomes your reflex.

Endurance is not passive. It is fierce obedience under pressure. Keep your love alive when the world goes numb, and you will not shatter. You will stand.

Reflection: Where has your heart started to harden, and what practice will you choose today to keep it warm

Haiku
Frozen streets of hate,
one ember refuses death,
God’s love thaws the soul.
