The Only Road That Isn’t a Dead End

The room was thick with fear. Judas had slipped into the night. Peter had just been told he would deny the One he swore to die for. And Jesus kept talking about leaving. The air was heavy with panic, and finally Thomas broke the silence: “We don’t know where You are going. How can we know the way?”

John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

We still ask that question, but it usually slips out when the noise dies down:

  • What if I’ve wasted everything?
  • What if I’m just faking it?
  • What if none of this really matters?

We bury it under long hours, drown it in distractions, or medicate it with self-help. But the ache never leaves. Deep down the cry is the same: I don’t know the way.

Jesus does not hand out directions. He looks us in the eye and says, “I am it. The way. The truth. The life. There is no other.” His words are not gentle suggestions. They are a line drawn in the sand.

For the disciples, that claim was the anchor that steadied them when everything felt like it was slipping away. For us, it is still the only answer to a world of dead ends. Every other road promises something but leads nowhere. He is the only road that leads home.

Reflection Question:
If every other road ends in emptiness, why not walk the only one that leads home?
