Scripture
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
Reflection
We live in a culture that despises weakness. Everything is about proving yourself, staying in control, and looking strong even when you feel like you are breaking inside. Paul turns that on its head. He admits his weakness and embraces it because it is the very place where God shows His power.
Surrender is not giving up. It is giving over. It is admitting that your strength is not enough, and that is the point. God is not waiting for you to hold it all together. He is waiting for you to let go so He can hold you.
When we stop clinging to the illusion of control, we meet a strength that does not run out. Grace steps in where human willpower collapses.
Takeaway
God’s strength is not a supplement for self reliance. It replaces it. Surrender is not the end of the fight. It is where the real fight begins and God wins it for you.
Prayer
Lord, I confess I cannot do this on my own. Teach me to stop pretending I am strong enough. I surrender every burden and weakness to You. Let Your power rest on me. Amen.
