The Proof Is in the Practice

Just because you are a member of an artistic organization does not make you an artist. Membership alone cannot define you. The proof of an artist is in the practice of their art.

It is the same with faith. Being listed on a church roll, carrying a Bible, or calling yourself a Christian does not make you one. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father” (Matthew 7:21).

James echoes this truth: “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:17). A title without substance is empty. Faith without practice is lifeless.

Membership may grant access, but action reveals identity. Artists prove they are artists when they create. Believers prove their faith when they live it.

Reflection: Am I satisfied with membership, or am I practicing what I claim to be?
