When Tragedy Still Breaks You

Some news stories roll by and we hardly blink. We’ve gotten used to the chaos, the violence, the constant stream of bad headlines. But then, one story cuts deeper than expected. It lingers. It stings. And you wonder, why is this hitting me so hard?

The truth is, that’s not weakness. That’s proof your heart is still alive.

Scripture says: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26). In a world where so many hearts have gone cold, God has kept yours tender.

When death becomes entertainment, when cruelty becomes a punchline, the Spirit within you refuses to call that normal. You feel it because you see the sacredness of life. You ache because you know the weight of sin. You grieve because you carry Christ’s love.

Don’t ignore that. Don’t brush it off. That ache is holy. It’s the evidence that God has not let you go numb.

So the next time tragedy cuts deep, remember: it hurts because your heart hasn’t turned to stone. It hurts because you still carry the love of Christ in a world desperate to kill it.
