When Faith Meets Suffering

Verse:
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Intro:
Some believe that walking with Christ should guarantee peace and comfort. They pray, read, obey, and expect protection from pain. But when life breaks, the question comes: “Why, God? I have been faithful. Why would You let this happen?” The expectation is safety. The reality is different.

Reflection:
Jesus never promised ease. He promised His presence. Job was righteous, yet he suffered. Paul was faithful, yet he was beaten and jailed. The disciples gave their lives and met persecution. Trouble is not proof of God’s absence. It is proof that this world is broken and our faith is being refined.

Romans 5 says suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope. Trials do not erase faith, they expose its depth. Faith is not about avoiding storms but about standing in them with Christ as anchor. His victory means our pain does not have the final word.

Prayer:
Lord, remind me that hardship does not mean You have left me. Strengthen me to endure with faith, grow me through trials, and keep my eyes on Jesus who has overcome the world. Amen.
